“You endure what is unbearable, and you bear it. That is all.”

OK, here's a short one involving Brother Zachariah and Magnus. For some reason, it reminded me of the "It's a staff" Heronstairs exchange.
Magnus: It's a privilege. I do love fending off angry Shadowhunters, especially of the possessed variety.
Brother Zachariah: He is not possessed.
Magnus: Semantics.

Tonight I planned to post Brother Zachariah quotes to keep with the TMI/TID theme I seem to have had this weekend. In light of recent developments, I will post Jessa quotes instead.

Warning: clicking the link below will spoil something that isn’t in any of the books released so far. However, it is a very happy spoiler!

Okay, I don’t know if I missed it, but I have not seen a Jem and Tessa tarot card. If there is one and you just aren’t showing it to us yet, I AM NOT ABOVE BEGGING. So, pretty please with a Benedict Cumberbatch on top will you showit to us? What if I bring you cookies? — team62forever

Hey Cassie! I was just wondering if there were any Jem and Tessa drawings or with them on a tarot card? I’ve been loving all the Will and Tessa ones but I kind of wanted more of Jessa. Thanks for reading (and answering if you do..) — consulfairchilds

I was saving the Jem and Tessa one because it is VERY SPOILERY. It doesn’t ONLY spoil events in Clockwork Princess, it spoils events in future as yet unwritten books.

Are you really sure you want to look?

Another comparison: CP2 and CoLS

Magnus in Clockwork Princess:
“You asked me how I, being immortal, survive so many deaths. There is no great secret. You endure what is unbearable, and you bear it. That is all.”

Brother Zachariah in City of Lost Souls:
“There are memories that time does not erase, Clarissa. Ask your friend Magnus Bane, if you do not believe me. Forever does not make loss forgettable, only bearable.”

I’ll be honest, this both warms my heart and tears it to pieces.

City of Bones and Clockwork Angel Parallel

City of Bones:

“Jace was seated at the grand piano, his slender hands moving rapidly over the keys. … She must have made some noise, because he twisted around on the stool, blinking into the shadows. ‘Alec?’ he said. ‘Is that you?’”

Clockwork Angel:

“His cheek rested against the instrument, and the bow sawed back and forth over the strings, wringing notes out of it, notes as fine and perfect as anything Tessa had ever heard.
His eyes were closed. ‘Will?’ he said, without opening his eyes or ceasing to play. ‘Will, is that you?’”

There’s plenty of sense in nonsense sometimes, if you wish to look for it.
Clockwork Angel, Chapter 4

Jem: You ask a lot of questions, don’t you?
Tessa: My brother always says curiosity is my besetting sin.
Jem: As sins go, it isn’t the worst one.
